Cronus, the father of Zeus, was a Titan. He is also known for devouring his own children. Later, he was conflated with Chronus, the Greek personification of time (Father Time in the Roman lore). This conflation wasn’t accidental - time does devour its own children as well. It gives them birth and consumes them.
