The Hydra Dilemma: Shifting Focus from External Problems to Inner Solutions
The Hydra is any “problem” that I have externalized and given my full attention to. In fact, it is created and fed by my attention.
Humans tend to focus on outside stuff – external problems and external solutions. Take a headache, for example. If I see it as a problem, an enemy, something separate from me, what will I do? I will look for a quick fix, like popping a Tylenol to get rid of it.
Of course, Tylenol will help for a while, but if I keep relying on it every time I have a head…
