Moses the law giver, Yeshua practiced kenosis, self-emptying: “I, of myself DO NOTHING…” recommending the 1st 2 commandments as all we need. Love dissolves anything unlike itself. An empty chalice overfloweth.
I remember when it dawned on me that the commandments are a natural way of living when you know and experience there Is only One, and This One is Love.
I resonate with this take of not putting the cart before the horse. But even the Buddha have a noble 8-fold path to set the system up for the degree of emptiness that allows for the non-doing Being to come alive and live in and through us.
As Love and Truth active in us reveal abundant life, ScareCity is emptied from our consciousness. Will poverty be eliminated?
When we find our true Home Here, the Withinness everywhere, will there still be the unhoused?
When the Peace that surpasseth all understanding pervades our systems will we still argue, fight, agress, war?
Going on in this way, it seems very true for those who empty into emptiness and find it full of all This Is: the All-in-all.
Our systems are fully utilized to bring forth our true nature into this realm. It looks miraculous.
The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.
Great article. I have read other commentaries on the 10 Commandments and on morality as an end in itself or a kind of natural human code but your article is much more clear in its explanations. I am reading St Athanasius’s book On the Incarnation , I should have read Against the gentiles first I didn’t even know of it and just picked up the book cause it was small and I felt like I needed to buy something at the Orthodox Church I was visiting on vacation. But it is super super cool! What an awesome Saint!!! . And in the Intro it talks about the first book Against the Gentiles and goes into an explanation of the Origin of Idolatry which sort of coincides with your points here. Thank you so much friend for sharing your thoughts with us on Substack. May God grant you many years and many blessings. You are a real light in the darkness
Robespierre and Saint-Just 👹🇨🇵🔪📯 were considered to be 'incorruptibles', but in reality (along with Thomas Paine 🏴 🇺🇲 ) they were ⚒️ judgemental and merciless prophets of doom. They started out with noble ideas ✍🏼⚖️🔔 and demagoguery which lead to advocating murder and terror.... Some of the most evil despots and mass murders in history were actually very 'virtuous' 💖 when it came to following their personal code and rejecting perceived "vice".
Yes, exactly. We were taught that Lenin was more than a saint. He was portrayed as one. He believed in his own morality. Yet, he killed millions of dissenters.

It’s only natural. 🙏
I love it: ScareCity is emptied from our consciousness! Indeed.
Yes, of course, morality dies when wrong ideas become obsessive. It was in ancient times, during the era of religious wars, and later, revolutions.
Thank you, and Holly, for liking my comment.
True. Thank you, Larisa!

Yes! No love, no morality.
Wow. I never thought of it all like this. Thank you so much. It has given me some clarity in one of my own struggles. God Bless ♥️
Thanks, Joellen!
